Teresa Yu
Music Leader, Organist, Pianist
Teresa Yu leads music at Christ Church in Sunday worship while she furthers her graduate studies as a concert pianist.
Teresa Yu began her studies in Taiwan at the age of six before moving to the United States in 1996. A winner of several piano competitions, Teresa has performed in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music and at the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. As the winner of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, she performed with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra in March 2005. She has been invited to perform with the Symphony of the Redwoods in 2006.
In addition to numerous solo and chamber music engagements, Teresa has appeared in concert with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, and together with Paul Hersh at the piano. She has also published in SoundPost Online Magazine. Teresa has performed in numerous master classes given by artists such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Claude Frank, Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode, Murray Perahia, Menahem Pressler, Robert Mann, Gilbert Kalish, Bernard Greenhouse, and Norman Fischer. She represented the San Francisco Conservatory at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as a part of the May 2005 Conservatory Project, a program showcasing young artists from conservatories around the country.
Teresa is presently pursuing an Artistic Certificate in Chamber Music at the San Francisco Conservatory, studying with Paul Hersh.
