Save the date! The Summer Frolic will be held again on June 28th. The members of Pine Methodist Church are graciously allowing us to use their facilities again for our annual Summer Frolic. This is a showcase for many many talented performers who donate their time and talent for out benefit! Under the direction of our “Producer”, Mrs. Ryoko Tadakuma, an outstanding afternoon of music will be provided. We need folks with strong backs for setup and cleanup and good cooks to provide refreshments and donations from everyone else!

Please mark the date in ink (not pencil) on your calendars. Together we can do it! (^_^)

We have been invited to Maundy Thursday services at St. James Church. If you intend to take part please let Stina know as St.James has asked how many may wish to take part.

Maundry Thursday is the Thursday in Holy Week. It is part of the Triduum, or three holy days before Easter. It comes from the Latin mandatum novum, “new commandment,” from John 13:34. The ceremony of washing feet was also referred to as “the Maundy.”

World Communion Sunday

World Communion Sunday Worship will be held on October 5^th at 10 a.m. at the Christ United Presbyterian Church (CUPC) at 1700 Sutter in Japantown. The Vicar of Sei Ko Kai was asked to preach. Sei Ko Kai will bring salads for the lunch that follows.

“Japanese Heritage Day” with the Oakland ‘A’s’

Japanese Heritage Day with the Oakland ‘A’s’ will be held on September 20, 2008. The hope of the planners is to unite the Greater Bay Area and Japanese communities through mutual love of baseball. There will be special events such as Taiko Drumming and part of the proceeds go to a charity. For more information, see the Vicar.
